For six years, Sportsman Boats and it's partners have raised over $100,000 scholarships or investments plus $5,000 each year for the Brody Bates Foundation.

IF your name is on the roster at the bottom of the page, then you are registered by responding to the director
2026 date is April 11 with the make up April 25
-early 2026, we will ask all members who is fishing so we will take a RSVP to communicate with who is interested
-each boat is a team and will be scored per divisions : elementary (1-4), middle (5-8), and high (9-12)
-the division is determined by the highest grade of the two anglers so 5th grade with 9th grade = high division
-launch time and weigh in times will be announced later based on participation
-first time moving the event from Buck Hall ( if it is closed )

-Student Angler Form completed ( see tab to left )
-Adult Form completed ( see tab to left )
Starts with a Virtual Launch
-pre approved public boat landing in the following counties: Georgetown, Charleston, Berkeley
-quick video showing students with lifejackets on, empty live well and boat landing
-launch only after the director approves your video
Weigh in Site is at Buck Hall Recreational Center
-If Buck Hall is closed for repairs,
-scales are open at 11am and we should be done by 2 or 3pm with weigh ins.
IF Buck Hall is closed then:
-Garris Landing 5801 N US-17Awendaw, SC 29429
-trailered boats cannot park upon arrival as these boats will have a drive thru weigh in managed by the SALTT staff
-trailered boats when finished with the weigh in will go to the awards location
-awards at Sewee Visitor and Environmental Educational Center 5821 N Highway 17Awendaw, SC 29429-5908
-Encourage all participants to honor the memory of Brody Bates by attendance
-Food and Prizes provided
IF you already fish SALTT, read below for the changes to a normal tourney
-an adult cannot touch a rod and reel since there is a lot of scholarship money on the line
-no gift cards but a check from SALTT mailed after the event
-checks will be made out to Future Scholar or an investor to avoid 1099
Basics guidelines but please read the "detailed information
-as many as 2 student anglers and 2 adults can be on the boat
-each boat represents a team and you can have up to 2 student anglers who will split the winnings
-the number of fishing lines out = the number of student anglers on the boat ( 2 anglers = 2 lines )
-live or cut bait is allowed as well as artificial baits
